What is the 21 day challenge and why is it for anyone?

Getting the things you want in life does not have to be hard or complicated, most of them just require planning and will power. Of course you will encounter limitations, but those limited realities would also likely require planning and will power, so it would be the quickest route. The 21 day challenge is a time to re-program your brain to sync with habits of the person you are wanting to become.  By becoming that person through your every day actions, it by default de-programs the unwanted habits that were before them.

The best way to do this is by finding an outlet for holding yourself accountable. This can be done in many ways, I have been doing it through a blog, video camera and excel spreadsheet. The important thing is that you know the habits you will be doing each day and have a way of charting a yes/no answer.

Some ways of holding yourself accountable

  • Blog
  • Video Camera
  • Journal
  • Excel Spreadsheet
  • Reporting to a friend
  • Reported to a group of others doing a similar challenge.

Step 1: Choose what you want to change in your life

  • I want to be the type of person who gets a lot done in the day
  • I want to read _____ Book

Step 2: What are you willing to do every day to have this in your life

  •  I will spend 30 minutes x 5 days a week to organizing my life and getting things done
  • I will spend 15 minutes x 5 days a week reading before bed

It’s important to remember that the more often you repeat this, the more you will figure out what you want in your life. Don’t beat yourself up if you need to make adjustments along the way, once you shine light on the issue you may find a better route of development.
